We Need To Talk… about Allyship, Empathy, and Racial Justice

In every organization, company, or community, in order to thrive, achieve goals, and make change possible, understanding and collaboration, is needed.

To be honest, black people, especially males, are treated differently by law enforcement and society. We are feared for reasons we don’t understand. This fear of black people has been going on for a very long time and is completely getting out of hand.

It’s time that we put a stop to this history of violence and oppression. But how? Where should one start? How do we even make others aware of all of this when they’re not willing to take a look? How do we bring this issue to the table?

As a white brother or sister, how can you be a part of this change?

Join me in this episode, as we talk to people, whom I consider my allies in the financial industry — Sonya Dreizler, Justin Castelli, and Jason Wenk. They are all successful financial professionals who are empowering people to do their best with what they have, to live the life they deserve.

In this conversation, we talk about allyship, empathy, the importance of racial justice, and why we need to talk about racial issues now and the role of white people on behalf of the black community. 

They also share their honest thoughts on what they felt and where they stand on this current situation we’re facing.  We also talk about solutions and suggestions on how to take real action for people of color inside and outside the workplace.

With nearly 19 years of experience in the financial services industry, he decided to leave the large corporations and start his own independent firm. He has a bachelor’s in business administration and is currently enrolled in coursework to obtain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation.
Emlen was born and raised in the small town of Madera, CA this is also where the firm is located. He is married to Maricela and they have 4 children Jada, Mia, Emlen II, and Ecella. We have a very active life, we enjoy working out, hiking, craft beer and escaping to the coast whenever possible.
